The health & fitness boom in Europe continues, while fitness takes the first position among leisure sports activities preferred by Europeans. Last year alone, the number of members of a health & fitness club increased by 3.5 percent, reaching over 62 million. Together with Daedalus Online, A.T. Kearney conducted an online market survey for World Class to understand the profile of the Romanian fitness customer. In terms of development perspectives for the Romanian health & fitness market, there is an increased demand for premium health & fitness clubs, accompanied by higher willingness to pay. By 2023 it is expected that an additional 250,000–300,000 new members will join the fitness market (a 30–35 percent increase versus 2018).

In Romania, the largest health & fitness network continues to open new clubs in strategic locations, so that more and more Romanians have access to these services, close to their home or work place. World Class is also consolidating its Corporate Wellness services by offering companies advantageous packages with extra benefits for employees. Soon, the network will announce the new World Class Sema Parc club’s pre-launch offer, which will include an exclusive price and other extra-benefits for new members in order to increase accessibility.

The company has also made an objective of informing companies about the impact of an active and healthy life of employees on the health of the business, through a series of Corporate Wellness workshops organized in companies.

“The goal of the World Class health & fitness network is to offer more and more Romanians the chance to choose an active and healthy lifestyle through sports, health and fitness. This objective is again materialized by the opening of a new club: World Class Sema Parc, in a strategically chosen location, in the immediate proximity of important office buildings. This is just one of the new openings that we have planned for the near future. The expansion of the World Class network will continue and we hope that this will bring a change in the lifestyle of the Romanians and will transform the #BeHealthy Movement for More Movement launched by World Class into a National Movement,” said Kent Orrgren, CEO World Class.

Sema Parc is an accessible location, 10 minutes from the center of Bucharest and 200 m from Petrache Poenaru subway station. In terms of location, quality and services, Sema Parc is certainly one of the most representative business parks in Bucharest and the largest urban regeneration project, a mixed real-estate master plan that aims at covering the full range of functions and facilities specific to modern life, being located within Bucharest’s latest business district – the Central-Western pole.

“Real-estate today is not only about buildings. The whole philosophy migrates towards experiences fit to answer the needs of the modern consumer, be it the office or the residential segment. Through World Class’s presence in Sema Parc, we widen the facilities spectrum we already provide on the premises with a top and professional offer that stands for number one in fitness business across Romania. We hope that this benefit we provide for over 8,000 employees active in Sema Parc complex will strengthen our tenants’ employer portfolio and will generate health and wellness benefits amongst their employees,” said Ion Radulea, CEO River Development.

The new World Class Sema Parc health & fitness club will open in February 2020, will cover a generous surface of 1,355 sqm and will give new members access to premium facilities and state-of-the-art Technogym equipment. The workouts will take place in modern cardio and strength areas, and also in aerobic and cycling studios equipped with ultra-high performance Schwinn bikes.
