What to do in Bucharest this weekend?

The cold winter brings new interesting indoor events. Here are some of them!

Swing music fans can enjoy the concert “Back to Swing – Marius Mihalache & Band” at Elisabeta Theatre on Friday starting 8:30 PM. Marius Mihalache is back in Romania after living for two years in USA. The concert is a comeback to the years ’20s and ’40s, the Gatsby parties and swing.

A concert will also take place on Serendipity art, coffee & tea  tea house, the Guitar Mozaic, on January 20 starting 8:30 PM. Claudiu Raducanu will play the guitar.

FreeStay will hold a concert on January 21 at 10 PM in True Social Club, where they will sing their hits, including „Las-o” and “Trebuia sa fii tu”. The tickets’ price is RON 30 and includes also a shot at the bar.

Film premieres this weekend

Sticking to concerts, on January 22 starting 7 PM will take place a live concert of fado music, “Fado Portugues”at ARTea tea house. Ambra will sing Portuguese music on guitar rhythm.

Getting to the movie scene, this is the first weekend of the year when a Romanian movie kicks off the national silver screens,  6.9 on the Richter scale, directed by Nae Caranfil and starring Maria Obretin, Teodor Corban and Laurentiu Banescu. It is about a humble Romanian actor in his 40’s, hardly surviving between a complicated part in a musical, a depressed wife, and the obsession of an imminent, devastating earthquake, becomes the victim of his manipulative father. Other premieres are xXx: The Return of Xander Cage, directed by D.J. Caruso and starring: Vin Diesel, Deepika Padukone and the movie Lion, directed by Garth Davis and starring Sunny Pawar, Rooney Mara, Priyanka Bose, Nicole Kidman and Dev Patel.
