Vodafone Romania has been certified as the “Best in Test” mobile network in Romania, obtaining the highest total score for the quality and performance of its mobile network. The recognition of the quality of Vodafone Romania’s mobile services is received after measurements on all Romanian mobile networks conducted by the independent auditor umlaut AG (the former P3 communications GmbH) during February 10th to March 2nd 2020.

This is the sixth consecutive certification for Vodafone Romania’s mobile network following measurement campaigns conducted by independent auditor umlaut AG.

Through this new certification, Vodafone Romania is reinforcing its commitment to keep Romanians connected and ensure mobile communication services for its customers at the highest quality in Romania.

“The need to ensure reliable and high quality mobile communication services for Romanians has never been more important. Our commitment to contribute to the Romanian digital society is now reconfirmed by this new Best in Test certification. I’m very proud of our engineers’ efforts to maintain the leadership of our Mobile Network in Romania in a moment when being a trustable and reliable partner for the society is essential”, stated Cătălin Buliga, Technology Director, Vodafone Romania.

Since the start of the pandemic crisis in Romania, Vodafone registered significant traffic increases which are perfectly aligned with the current situation in Romania: people are working from home, education moved online and there is a permanent need for people to check the health status of their beloved ones. On Vodafone Mobile Network, at busy hour, we see a 23% increase in Mobile Data Upload Traffic and a 25% increase in Mobile Voice traffic, at the issue date of this press release.

The measurement campaign has been conducted between February 10th and March 2nd 2020, across Romanian territory, on a path randomly chosen by the umlaut AG auditor. The measurements based on drive tests have covered a total driving road length of 8194 km and 24% of the Romanian population. The measurements based on crowdsourcing tests have covered 95.2% of the urban populated areas, 49.8% of the non-Urban populated areas while the total size of the tested area was 113.568 km2. Following comparative measurements across all the mobile networks in Romania, Vodafone Romania registered the highest total score for the quality and performance of its mobile data and voice services.

The drive test campaign has been conducted in Timișoara, Sibiu, Brașov, Târgu Mureș, Cluj-Napoca, Oradea, Baia Mare, Suceava, Iași, Bacău, Buzău, Constanța, București, Râmnicu Vâlcea, Lugoj, Deva, Sebeș, Făgăraș, Codlea, Sighișoara, Luduș, Huedin, Aleșd, Valea lui Mihai, Dej, Vatra Dornei, Flămânzi, Târgu Frumos, Roman, Adjud, Râmnicu Sărat, Slobozia, Hârșova, Lumina, Corbii Mari and on the connecting driving roads between these localities.

The localities and roads tested have been independently and randomly selected by umlaut AG, without communicating them in advance to Romanian operators, in order to ensure the objectivity and accuracy of the results and to reflect the real mobile experience of Romanian mobile customers.

The testing methodology is updated every year by umlaut AG (former P3 communications)  in order to reflect the increased customer expectations, the availability of the latest mobile technologies in the respective country and to stress mobile networks at their maximum capabilities.
