It’s that time of the year when jazz lovers all over the country – and also overseas, are preparing for Garana Jazz Festival. For 22 years now, the Garana Jazz Festival has attracted a chilled-out crowd for jazz in the forest. Chilled-out in both senses – the village is in the mountains and the evenings are cool, so take a jacket! Garana Jazz Festival is a once in a lifetime jazz experience, for the atmosphere of its surroundings. Pack your tent and your warm clothes and head to the mountains to disconnect from everyday life and get into the groove.

But just before the classy jazzy half-week from Semenic mountains, a great preview was offered on Sunday, in Resita’s city center, during Custom Resita event – a celebration of the local community. On a rainy day (much like the Garana Festival itself), the Philharmonic Orchestra of Arad, under the wand of the conductor Sabin Pauta and together with the soloists Anca Parlea and Dean Bowman, some magic happened. Several hundreds of people were standing in the rain, enjoying the great show. Some of them were dancing in the rain (me included), some left aside their umbrella and clapped their hands, and some were just mesmerised by the performance. Crystal clear that there is a community of jazz lovers – mostly elders, who knows what a great performance means. Chapeau, Resita, didn’t expect you to have so good vibes on a rainy day. And the two ballerinas dancing in the rain with the special ballerina shoes, absolutely amazing.
