Vaslui, Mehedinţi and Teleorman lead in unemployment ranking

Romania had 503,000 registered unemployed citizens in March, when the average unemployment rate stood at 5.56 percent, according to data from The National Agency for the Labor Force Occupancy (ANOFM).

Half of the registered unemployed pertain to the age category 30-39 years old and 40-49 years old. The majority have not graduated high-school and over 72,000 percent have not been working for more than 27 months.

People between 40 and 49 top the unemployment list, with 143,574 lacking a job.

People between 30 and 39 are the second most exposed age group, since 117,796 are jobless.

The third most numerous unemployed age category is that of people over 55, with 71,311 people in this age group being unemployed.

Most of the people who currently don’t have a job in Romania, meaning 146,605, have been looking for a job for the past 3-6 months.

Vaslui, with a 11.53 percent rate, Mehedinti with 10.34 percent, Teleorman with 10,16, Dolj with 9,68, Alba with 9.30 percent, Galati with 9.05 percent, Buzau with 8.54 percent, Ialomita with 8.21 percent, Olt with 7.94 percent, and Gorj with 7.79 percent, are the leading cities in the unemployment ranking carried out by the National Agency for the Labor Force Occupancy (ANOFM).

At the opposite end, the counties with the lowest unemployment are Ilfov, with 1.73 percent rate, Bucharest with 2.05 percent unemployment, Cluj with 3.32 percent unemployment, Maramures with 3.85 percent unemployment, Bihor with 4.03 percent rate, Constanta with 4.28 percent, Satu Mare with 4.46 percent, Bistrita with 4.68 percent and Sibiu with 4.73 percent.
