Romania takes a more and more credible fight against corruption, which strengthens our strategic partnership, said on Tuesday the US ambassador at Bucharest, Hans Klemm, within a seminar regarding the anti-corruption practices in business.
„We can’t underline enough the contribution that the fight, more and more credible against corruption that Romania takes, had on the force of our bilateral strategic partnership. The Romanian investment in international security, both here in the Black Sea region, as well as on the combat fields far away, has to be stressed out. We are glad also for the strong economic growth that Romania has. Romania’s contribution to the fight against corruption was really beneficial to our strategic partnership and consolidated it. It’s recognized in the US, in the capitals of our EU member states and I encourage Romania to fight against corruption,” said Klemm.
According to him, from the perspective of the risk management in business, the corruption increases the costs and the risks associated to the business, discourages investments, blocks the economic growth, distorts the prices, blocks the economic development and corrupts the Government processes of acquisitions.
„According to a study of the State department of USA, named ‘Fighting against corruption at global level- management of risk in business’, the corruption increases the cost of a business with at least 20 percent, resulting in discouraging the honest and efficient employees and citizens. Corruption starts with small deeds and evolves to more complex activities and to an increased tolerance of these practices, to the punishment of the honest people and the acceptance of a stimulus programs with tremendous effects by society, ” added Klemm, according to Agerpres.
