Academic Peer Review indicator is a system which is used for evaluating universities by other universities according to their excellence in activities and knowledge. This criterion covers 40 percent of the total rating. Employer Review is the indicator where employers decide which university prepares best their students for labor market, using a survey among HR specialists who recruit students or recent graduates. For this indicator, the evaluation consists of 10 percent of the total rating. Citations per Faculty Member is composed of productivity and quality of the research – 20 percent, Student per Faculty Ratio, the ratio between number of students and number of teachers – another 20 percent and International Factors, an evaluation of the foreign languages programs from a university, as well as the number of foreign teachers and students – the other 10 percent.

The 2012 QS World University Ranking for English Language and Literature lists at the top the University of Cambridge, UK. Stanford University, US, was ranked first in the 2012 QS World University ranking for Communication and Media Studies.
