Top 5 New Romanian health-tech initiatives developed in 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic makes it more difficult to solve problems in hospitals. A solution is based on technology, and during this period it is more important than ever to increase the number of initiatives in the field of health-tech.

  1. Corona-Forms digital platform

The Romanian Government has announced a long-awaited project: The Corona-Forms digital platform through which, once a positive Covid-19 result of a laboratory is introduced in the platform, reaches the patient at the same time, via SMS, he or she also receives electronically, on the e-mail address, also reaches the family doctor, by identification from the CNP, he also reaches the Public Health Direction (DSP).

Once that result is received, the patient is registered by the family doctor. The family doctor, if it is a SARS-CoV-2 positive result, manages it as a SARS-CoV-2 positive, monitoring it. If a symptomatology occurs, this patient is scheduled to be investigated, separately, at a dedicated center, not at night, during the day, scheduled. To the extent that the evolution is good, he returns to isolation, if it is not good, he remains in the hospital. If the result is negative, it is treated as a respiratory infection, with related leave or related therapy.

 

  1. Application developed in Cluj to provide support for 500 hospitals in 12 countries

BRINEL, one of the main integrators of information systems in Romania, launched a Remote Access Management (RAM) application developed on the Microsoft Azure platform.

The application is used by one of the providers in the medical industry, to provide support for more than 500 hospitals in 12 countries. By the end of the year, the platform will be expanded to two more countries, the number of medical units that will benefit from support through it, exceeding 700.

  1. Data collection and analysis platform for oncology research

Oncochain, a data collection and analysis platform for oncology research, raised 200,000 euros through equity crowdfunding on SeedBlink, the largest platform dedicated to technology startups in Southeast Europe. The total value of the financing is 350,000 euros, the round being led by the Cleverage VC investment fund.

Oncochain is a startup launched in Timișoara at the beginning of 2019 by two doctors specialized in obstetrics-gynecology. Data collected from daily clinical practice are provided to oncology health professionals, research institutes, and pharmaceutical companies in the form of statistical analyzes. The statistics are anonymous and aims to generate information that can guide research and increase the quality of medical services.

 

  1. Artificial intelligence for radiography analysis

A Romanian startup uses artificial intelligence to allow a faster and easier analysis of radiographs, so doctors can interpret up to 200 lung x-rays / day, 20% more than at present. XVision has developed an online application that consists of an automatic tomography (CT) image analysis system based on artificial intelligence and deep learning technology and that can be integrated with Picture Archiving Communication Systems (PACS). they are part of the computer component of medical systems.

XVision brought its technology for the first time to the “Pius Brînzeu” County Emergency Clinical Hospital in Timișoara at the beginning of this year.

 

  1. Digital assistant for doctors

Medinav is a digital assistant for doctors that helps them spend more time with their patients, reducing administrative work. It listens to the doctor’s verbal recommendations, understands them, automatically fills in the forms in the electronic file and offers clinical assistance through various alerts.
