The top economic areas where Romanians are looking for jobs: sales, accounting, human resources

The largest online recruitment platform in Romania, eJobs, received 3.5 million resumes this year from active candidates. Most of them were from people looking for a job in sales (700,000 CVs), followed by accounting with 400,000, and human resources with 200,000, according to the data collected by eJobs.

The ranking of the most popular fields among candidates continues with outsourced call-center services, back-office, transport and logistics, administration and horeca, banking, legal and IT & software.

“The candidates’ interest for certain areas of activity and for certain jobs is relatively similar to that of last year. A surprise over last year is the increase in IT & software, both in terms of the number of job seekers in this industry and the number of jobs posted by employers. On the other hand, the casinos and gambling sector has been pushed out of the top,” said Bogdan Badea, eJobs Romania CEO.

Other areas where companies have searched for many employees this year were transportation, food and fuel, human resources, back office, production, construction or engineering.

As for the most active cities in terms of employment, the most effervescent was the Bucharest workforce market, where employers offered over 42,000 jobs this year. The second place, at a significant distance, is Cluj-Napoca, with 8,276 ads, followed by Iasi (4,662), Timşoara (4,352) and Braşov (3,549).

The fewest opportunities for employment were for candidates in Barlad, Mangalia, Campina and Mioveni – each of them having 58-60 jobs posted on the market. Those who wanted a job outside the country had almost 2,400 options, and the destinations the highest number of job offers were Britain, Germany, France, Belgium, Italy and the Netherlands.

“At the national level, the hottest employment areas are also those with the highest wage levels, in almost all areas, positions and age levels and experience, as Paylab, the eJobs payroll comparator, shows. That’s why the correlation was largely predictable – the more we invest and open up businesses in a city or region, the more jobs there are and the higher salary thresholds go,” says Bogdan Badea.

In 2018, eJobs.ro had nearly 100,000 job advertisements posted by companies. For these, about 3.5 million candidates submitted their resumes.
