The Romanian brand 5 to go which became the biggest coffee chain in Eastern Europe goes international

The successful Romanian coffee chain 5 to go opens first international unit in Paris, France. The multi-awarded brand, unique on the market for the fixed price concept became the largest chain of coffee shops in Eastern Europe and the most accessed HoReCa franchise in Romania. Launched in 2015, it currently overpassed 250 locations all over Romania and 39,9% market share in the number units from total coffee branded chains and it is now ready for the international expansion. The brand placed on the 12 position in the top made by Food Service for Europe & Middle East of the most important coffee players in Europe, in 2020.

 

The first unit outside Romania opened beginning of June in partnership with Donuterie, the sweet donuts business with 17 units in Romania and 7 abroad, in France, Belgium and UK. Under the concept 5 to go Coffee Corner, the international model is based also on the simplicity of the process: fixed price with progressive approach, from 1 to 5 euro.

5 to go is one of the nominees in the Most Adaptive Business Model of 2020 category at the Business Review Awards Gala, while the company’s co-founder, Radu Savopol, is one of the finalists in the Executive of the Year category! Join them, and the other Business Champions, for an exquisite event on June 15, 2021, at the JW Marriott Bucharest Grand Hotel.

The plans for the French market include the opening of 4 more units, in Le Havre, Le Mans, Bruges and a new one in Paris, also in partnership with Donuterie. For the second half of the year, the expansion in France will continue with a master franchise with a local partner, aiming especially small and medium sized cities, with a goal of 10 units in the first year. Also, in the next month another country will benefit of 5 to go coffee flavor: Great Britain. More specific, a coffee shop will open in London, based on the same model from France: with Donuterie as partner and the fixed price model approach.

The association of coffee and donuts is not random. It is well known that donut is the top performing product in terms of sales near a coffee. „This partnership is beneficial for both sides, giving us the base of further building the businesses by offering complementary consumption opportunities”, added Dan Olteanu, Donuterie founder.

5 to go won international recognition starting 2 years ago, by winning the Silver Award at The European Coffee Award for the Best Coffee Chain in Central Eastern Europe, in direct competition with big international brands. Also, at the end of 2020 received the Jury Special „European Concept Award” by IREF. Over 30 national and international awards are the living proof of the passion, the commitment, and the effort of the 5 to go team.
