Labor Minister Lia Olguta Vasilescu said on Sunday that the Government will issue an Emergency Ordinance at its next meeting to change the Labor Code so that the minimum wage is differentiated based on employees’ education and seniority.

”At the next government meeting next week we will have an Emergency Ordinance amending the Labor Code. The Labor Code talks about the minimum wage, but not the minimum wage differentiated according to studies. The first step is to amend the Code. After it changes, we will come up with the government decision,” said Olguta Vasilescu.

According to the minister, the minimum wage would rise from December 1 to RON 2,080 and RON 2,350 respectively for those with higher education and at least 15 years’ seniority.

According to Vasilescu. doctors and nurses will not see any wage growth from December 1, because they’re already on the 2022 grid. Increases will occur for other employee categories in the Health System.
