Telekom Romania is the second telecommunications operator to publicly announce that it would increase prices for some of its services, after Digi Communications. Telekom will increase prices for each fixed service (fixed voice, Internet, TV) and each mobile subscription for the residential customers by EUR 0.42, VAT included, starting April 15.

The price increase is the consequence of OUG 114/2018, which put a 3 percent tax on the operators’ revenues.

”As a result of the increase of costs associated with the provision of communications services, Telekom Romania is constrained to increase the price for all portfolio services (fixed and mobile) addressing residential and business customers, starting April 15, 2019,” shows the press release.

The company notes that the commercial offer #Netliberare stands for the company’s commitment to the local market since it offers unlimited 4G internet for EUR 5 per month. According to P3 results, Telekom customers can benefit from a ”very good mobile network”and 4G coverage in 99.5 percent of urban population and 93 percent in total population.

The price for each fixed service (fixed voice, Internet, TV) and each mobile subscription for the residential customers will be increased with EUR 0.42, VAT included (EUR 0.35 no VAT), namely approximately RON 2, starting April 15. This increase does not apply to television options, handsets instalments or fixed equipment rents. Business customers will receive a written notification announcing changes in their contracts, as well.

At the end of 2018, the company reached 200,000 customers for the Freedom portfolio and invested 200,000 euros in supporting 10 Romanian companies that changed the rules in their industries.

The company recently announced that it may not enter in the competition for the 5G license since it may be too expensive.
