Tariceanu: Household tax is still up for discussion, but no date set for introduction

Calin Popescu Tariceanu, leader of the senate and president of the ALDE party, said on Monday that the global income tax (or household tax) is still up for discussion, but that he can’t specify an exact date for its implementation.

The concept of the household tax is included in the governing programme of the PSD-ALDE coalition, but authorities have not yet taken any action to implement it.

The tax had been strongly criticised last year after the Tudose government announced its intention to apply it due to the difficulties it would create for both citizens and fiscal institutions, and Mihai Tudose eventually said that it would be postponed.
