Skanska, the biggest office developer in Europe, reports the achievements of 2020 in Romania: selling Campus 6.2 and 6.3 projects, leasing over 5,500 sqm, obtaining WELL Health & Safety Rating certification for Equilibrium 1 and Campus 6.2 projects – that  are becoming thus the first office buildings in Romania that managed to obtain this certification, the delivery of the Campus 6.3 building and the launch of SkanskaSpaces – the 3D interactive  visualization platform, developed by Bright Spaces, which was implemented, for the first time, in the Equilibrium project.

2020 has been a challenging year for many business sectors and beyond, but Skanska has managed to meet the challenges and difficulties that have appeared throughout the year and achieve its goals. At the same time, it is committed to continuing to be a developer of high-quality office spaces with top safety standards that reduces the risk of disease transmission.

Last year, the activity on the site of Campus 6.2 and 6.3 projects in Bucharest was not stopped, and Skanska Romania team adapted to the current pandemic conditions, integrating at the same time all the necessary safety measures and respecting the authorities’ recommendations.

Even in pandemic conditions, Skanska sold Campus 6.2 and Campus 6.3 office buildings, located in Bucharest, to S IMMO AG for 97 million euros, being one of the largest transactions of Skanska on the Romanian market so far.

In addition, Campus 6.2 and Equilibrium 1 are the first office buildings in Romania to obtain the WELL Health & Safety Rating. Skanska is the first office developer in the region to meet the latest requirements imposed by the International WELL Building Institute forum for standard (multiple) locations. Skanska insists on the importance of building certification in order to give people the confidence they need to return to the office and intends to obtain WELL Health & Safety Rating for all its properties.

Also last year, through a partnership with Bright Spaces startup, the future occupants of the two buildings in the Equilibrium project can already view virtual office spaces. Developed under the umbrella of Skanska CEE’s innovation strategy, the 3D interactive viewing platform (which has been operational since October) allows the developer to present their spaces in an innovative, interactive way and more adapted to the current needs of customers. The solution provides a complete user experience and creates a new standard in the virtual presentation of office space. The new real estate technology solution is the result of a PropTech hackathon organized by Skanska in 2019 and was implemented for the first time in the Equilibrium project.

“Last year was a challenge for all of us – society, companies, and corporate leaders – to adapt to a new social and economic reality. The C-19 redefined our traditional workplace behaviors overnight, so remote work quickly became the new norm for all organizations.

I am grateful to both, the local and the regional teams. Together we managed to overcome all obstacles and achieved our goals. Throughout this period, we have permanently connected, we have adapted to the new situation, we have focused on protecting the people and the business. We did not stop works on Campus 6.2 and 6.3 projects site, and, together with our colleagues from the construction division, we adapted quickly to the current pandemic conditions, while integrating all necessary safety measures and following the authorities’ recommendations. I want to thank all the colleagues from Skanska Construction Romania and the partners involved, for the work doneon the construction site of the Campus 6.2 and Campus 6.3 projects. It has been and will remain a common effort of all to be able to successfully complete these ambitious projects.

The power of adaptation was unexpected, and the results obtained make me extremely proud and confident that we will maintain the sustainable pace of business development in Romania.

This year we are committed to continuing to be recognized as a developer of high-quality office space, with top safety standards, which reduces the risk of disease transmission and facilitate the creation of healthy and safe workspaces in the post-COVID reality.” said Aurelia Luca, Executive Vice President of Operations Romania for Skanska’s business development division in the EEC.
