Salaries increase by 1 pct in September over August

In September 2015, the average gross nominal earnings reached RON 2,541 (up 1 percent over August 2015), while average net nominal earnings were RON 1,833 (rising RON 20 above the August level, or 1.1 percent), data from the National Institute for Statistics show.

Year on year, net nominal earnings indicated an 8 percent rise, while the real earnings index (calculated as the ratio between the net nominal earnings index and the consumer prices index) in relation with the same period of previous year was 109.9 percent.

The highest values of the average net nominal earnings were recorded in extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas (RON 5,895), while the lowest in accommodation and food service activities (RON 1,075).

Most economy sectors saw rises in the level of average net earnings, with the most notable increases being recorded by extraction of crude petroleum and natural gas workers (23.3 percent), mining support service activities, manufacture of coke and refined petroleum products, air transport (between 10.5 percent and 16.5 percent), manufacture of computer, electronic and optical products, other manufacturing, manufacture of textiles, manufacture of electrical equipment, manufacture of tobacco products, manufacture of leather and related products (between 3.5 percent and 7.0 percent).

Decreases were seen in mining of coal and lignite (9.1 percent), mining (7.4 percent), telecommunications, financial service activities, water supply; sewerage, waste management, manufacture of basic metals, manufacture of basic pharmaceutical products, motion picture, video and television production, other mining and quarrying, manufacture of other transport equipment (between 2.5 percent and 4.5 percent).

In the budgetary sector increases of the average net earnings were registered as against the previous month in education (6.1 percent), respectively in public administration (0.9 percent). In health and social assistance slight decreases of 0.1 percent were registered against August 2015.
