Romanian paraglider Toma Coconea makes set a record by flying his paraglider over a distance of 100 kilometers at 6,000 meters altitude, during a training session he held in Himalaya.

Initially, Coconea planned to paraglide at over 8,000 meters altitude and even to exceed the height of the Everest (8,848 meters), but weather conditions prevented him from doing so.

„Humidity was very high. I managed to go up to almost 6,000 meters, a few days in a row. Unfortunately, after two-three hours of flight, around 1,2 pm. The clouds were descending and surrounding me. I had to cut the clouds, but I managed to make a record of over 100 kilometers, a distance record,” Coconea  told Agerpres.

However, the Petrosani-born Coconea said he will not give up on his plan. „I will come back because the project is still on my mind. I am a very stubborn one. I will choose another period of the year, towards May. I want to break the height record,” Coconea said.
