The deposits of non-government resident customers fell by 1.2 percent in June against May to RON 191 billion (EUR 42.8 billion), shows data from the National Bank of Romania (NBR).
The RON-denominated household deposits gained 13.3 percent year-on-year to RON 75.5 billion (EUR 16.9 billion) in June, but fell by 0.2 percent against the previous month. Meanwhile, the corporate deposits went up by 6.5 percent y/y to RON 50.3 billion (EUR 11.2 billion), but lost 3.9 percent versus May.
The forex-denominated deposits of households and companies gained 7.9 percent y/y to RON 65.1 million and 2.7 percent if expressed in Euros. It fell by 0.2 percent against the previous month, although if expressed in Euros, deposits edged up 0.1 percent month-on-month to EUR 14.6 billion.
Household deposits grew by 9.5 percent y/y to RON 43.4 billion (EUR 9.7 billion) and and by 4.2 percent if expressed in Euros. These deposits lost 0.8 percent against the previous month.
Corporate deposits added 4.9 percent y/y to RON 21.6 billion (EUR 4.8 billion), but lost 0.2 percent if expressed in Euros. Deposits fell by 2.1 percent against the previous month.
