Wello, the AI-based healthcare platform for children and parents, has been selected to join the Google for Startups accelerator as part of the Business Model Mastering programme for companies in the growth phase, informs Agerpres news agency.

According to the news agency, Wello was selected alongside another five European startups to attend util June 4 an intensive business acceleration program that consists of a series of interactive workshops during which they will have access to know-how, applied tools and guidance for increasing the efficiency of their current business model. The program offers the selected companies the opportunity to discuss with top experts and other participants the current business challenges and solutions to concrete situations.

Wello is the first health app in Romania to help families that have children struggling with weight problems. The platform helps them lose weight through tailored diet plans and gamification features that encourage family members to engage in fun physical activities, such as sports or cooking a meal together. “I believe parents can actively help their child live a healthier lifestyle,” says Bianca Padurean, a parent involved in the app’s pre-launch test phase.

Using innovative technology and scientific data, the app offers parents and children tips and customised nutritional plans based on their needs. The platform provides a comprehensive source of information about proper nutrition for children, for which the app developers around CEO and co-founder Sveatoslav Vizitiu sought advice from nutrition experts

“Our goal is to develop Wello to the next stage and to configure our business models, both B2C and B2B, so that we are able to help as many overweight children as possible and their families to become acquainted with a healthy living behavior, based on on an age-appropriate diet, exercising and counseling for setting an emotional balance. At the same time, our selection into this business acceleration program provides us direct access to the best Google products, connections and practices, to better and faster develop the Wello platform in the desired direction,” says Wello co-founder Sveatoslav Vizitiu, quoted by Agerpres.

The development of the Wello platform started in August 2017 with a first investment of over EUR 650,000 in non-reimbursable financing, as part of the 2014 – 2020 Competitiveness Operational Programme co-financed by the European Regional Development Fund. A series of awards and recognitions have been achieved since then, such asthe Best Social Impact Startup prize, Budapest, Hungary (2019), winner at DEMO DAY Himss2019, Helsinki, Finland (2019) etc.
