The Romanian government will approve the agenda drafted for the upcoming presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR), Romanian PM Viorica Dancila announced. Romania will hold the presidency of the EU Strategy for the Danube Region between 1 November 2018-1 November 2019.

The agenda and the calendar, which includes 55 meetings and events, were drafted by the Romanian presidency.

“We are preparing to take over the Presidency of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region (EUSDR) starting with November this year. As we know, this mandate coincides with another period of interest for Romania in its European course, taking over the Presidency of the Council of the European Union. These are two important occasions to promote the image of our country at the external level: We approve today the concept of the Romanian Presidency of the European Union Strategy for the Danube Region and the timetable containing 55 thematic meetings and events, “Viorica Dancila said on Thursday at the beginning of the Government meeting.

The prime minister also said that the actions will be carried out under the motto “Strengthening cohesion for a common prosperity in the Danube Region”.

“Our main objective will be to promote the relaunch of the strategy on a number of priority themes and directions of action, among which I would like to recall the improvement of connectivity and mobility in the Danube region, reviving the EUSDR with the involvement of all states in the Danube region and, of course, European exchanges of experience and good practices, both in the legislative and business sphere, ” Dancila said.
