The government will have to work with the European Commission, the executive arm of the EU, on clearing any misunderstandings regarding a “supposed ban of gas exports from Romania”, and will stop the liberalization of gas prices until common ground is reached on this topic, according to Razvan Nicolescu, the delegate minister of energy.
The minister has met on Monday in Brussels with representatives of DG Energy to discuss matters related to the gas market such as the approach of the EC regarding shale gas and the potential of hydrocarbon resources in the Black Sea.
Another topic under discussion was the Romania’s infringement risk stemming from the blocking of gas exports.
“There is a major divergence with the DG Enterprise of the EC, regarding a potential ban of gas exports from Romania. I have asked for the involvement of DG Energy is solving this dispute, something that has been accepted,” said Nicolescu (in picture) in a statement.
“I have informed them that until this matter is fixed, the Romanian state reserves its right to delay the approval of the liberalization calendar for the population,” he added.
