Once again, the year 2020 confirmed the importance of the health system within the ecosystem of any society. The pandemic has generated a change of vision in the way companies and individuals choose to protect their health, showing special interest to medical packages for prevention.

Companies have invested significantly in employee health, particularly since most medical subscriptions also include the necessary investigations in the assessment and monitoring of COVID-19 post-infection. Thus, in 2020, 50% more corporate subscribers benefited from more comprehensive subscriptions and more services included, as compared to the previous year. In turn, subscribers purchased superior packages for family members through the REGINA MARIA online store – over 50% of all subscriptions purchased since the launch of the e-commerce platform.

Small and medium-sized companies (SMEs) in REGINA MARIA’s portfolio also showed a growing interest in health, despite the context generated by the pandemic. Over 80% of the medical benefit packages purchased by these companies for their employees were medium-premium subscriptions.

The interest for subscriptions generated a 22% increase in the segment of individual subscribers (adults and children), as compared to 2019. Moreover, premium packages prevail, with over 38% of complex subscriptions purchased in 2020, including the largest number of free of charge services and investigations, and access to all doctors in the Network.

“For 25 years, we have been offering customized medical solutions for large companies, entrepreneurial businesses and individuals. Recent years have shown us that prevention and healthcare are a priority for all these categories, a trend now highlighted by the pandemic, which we believe will continue after the current context. Subscribers have understood how important it is to have a subscription with multiple and complex services, which allows you to see a doctor whenever necessary. In addition, over 95% of our subscriptions also cover investigations recommended in post-COVID patient monitoring. In addition to the medical services offered, REGINA MARIA subscriptions also mean complete digital experience. Everything can happen online: from buying the desired subscription through the online store, making appointments (occupational medicine included) from the mobile phone, the consultation itself – online or offline – and paying for services”, says Andreea Minuță, Subscriptions Division Director, REGINA MARIA Healthcare Network.

According to REGINA MARIA statistics, corporate subscribers go to the doctor twice as often as patients who do not have a subscription, and in the case of individual subscribers the frequency increases even more.

At national level, REGINA MARIA Healthcare Network manages a portfolio of over 640,000 medical subscriptions, and the counties with the most subscribers are Bucharest, Brasov, Timisoara, Cluj, Dolj, Iasi, Mures, Constanta, and Bacau.

REGINA MARIA’s portfolio includes over 6,000 companies, from industries such as IT & Telecom, automotive, finance, insurance, retail and FMCG, transportation, technical and administrative services or manufacturing.

Preventive medical services also include support and innovations for subscribers. Developed in record time at the beginning of the pandemic, the Telemedicine Virtual Clinic service offers subscribers the opportunity to benefit from medical consultations at home, providing the closest alternative to the classic one. The Virtual Clinic is also a solution for subscribers suspected of SARS-CoV-2 infection, as a family doctor contacts them as soon as possible. At the same time, over 95% of REGINA MARIA subscriptions include services and investigations for patients cured of COVID-19, who have developed long-term complications due to the disease or the effects of the treatments.

The Network has made considerable efforts to support companies’ efforts to protect their employees against COVID-19 infection, by organizing webinars and workshops for subscribers, increasing testing capacity and the number of laboratories in which RT-PCR molecular biology tests are carried out, but also through testing campaigns at the organizations’ headquarters.
