Liviu Rogojinaru, State Secretary in the Ministry of Economy, Energy and Business Environment, held a speech and took a Q&A session during BR’s re:FOCUS on Retail & Logistics.
I was an entrepreneur for 27 years and a state secretary for only 2 weeks. I’m coming from the private sector.
“Romanians are good buyers and commerce will continue to grow for everyone, big retailers, small retailers, eCommerce, there’s growth room for all. Probably there will come a time when the growth of commerce won’t be at 22% per year. The government will try to help commerce because it creates money. I always give this example: The UAE, everyone talks about its oil industry. Wrong, 35% of their GDP comes from commerce. This means they know how to do it and I would be very happy if Romania could match this.”
EU Funds
“Take a good look at EU funding. And I’m referring here to companies capable of being innovative. There’s a new program worth EUR 87 billion, available for the next 5 years, which will be very easy to access.”
Romanian companies reaching outside the EU
“We are trying to help companies become innovative. Romanian needs companies that can go on the world market. Why are we interested for Romanian companies to become international? Because we need to outgrow not only the Romanian borders but those of the EU too, we need to decide who to sell to in this world. It’s very important to think about global commerce, what can we sell internationally.”
