Radu Milos, Elysian Software: The change forced by the pandemic in the work environment is a challenge for companies

From our point of view, 2021 is a continuation of what 2020 was, namely the year in which we turned our homes into offices. We changed from people who went to the office to people who worked at home, said Radu Milos, Co-Founder & CTO of Elysian Software at Business Review’s #futureofwork – Working Romania HR Conference.

The upside of working from home is that we don’t waste any more time for transportation to and from work, which is at least an hour every day, so we have more time for hobbies, for staying with the family or for whatever we want. „The change also came with a flexibility in working, a hybrid way, both in home and in the office”, says Milos.

This brought new challenges for employers, as they had to manage the work of employees and teams that are scattered around the town. „We offer Tassis, an application that provides a way to manage all processes concering the work of employees and teams. It is a collaboration platform, which manages the schedule, the activities and the team. It helps the company to stay organized and the employees to better manage their time and to somehow solve the collaboration in the personnel area,” says Radu Milos.

One of the important things that Tassis can do is to offer to employees a boundary line between personal and professional life. It helps them to know when they started working and when they finish it. ”This way we manage to avoid the mixture between professional and private life, in the sense that when we work from home we are always available, we are always online. By using Tassis we manage to fulfill this need of the separation between home and office. This perpetual and constant availability to work can lead to anxiety and even depression,” explains Milos.

Of course, Tassis, does a lot more. Many of the processes of daily activity are automated and facilitated through the platform, like HR application approvals, as well as communication and sharing documents between members and teams.

”Through Tassis we offer to companies, at a low price, services that were usually available only for corporations, but they paid a much higher price and, as mostly with the help of several programs in order to achieve the same result Tassis has,” says Milos.

”The phrase “measures the productivity of remote employees” may be a definition of Tassis. It is said that there should be a disconnection between efficiency and hours spent at work, but I do not completely agree. Often the value of a project is given by the number of hours spent on that project. We are a service company that in addition to Tassis, we offer IT services, and the valuation of our projects is given by the effort we estimate we will make for that project,” explains Radu Milos.

The Tassis platform allows users to see how many hours have been spent for a task or for a client and it has many metrics that help project managers to better see the evolution of projects.

”Moreover, by analysing metrics from past projects, we can have a better projection into the future. We have metrics that can capture an image of employee productivity, projects and efficiency. Tassis helps us minimize the time spent on administrative matters. And in terms of working remotely in the long-run, I can say that one of the strategies we develop and want to offer to our clients is the possibility to learn continuously and constantly. This is one of the needs of the industry today, because what was valid 5-7 years ago is certainly no longer valid now. Through Tassis we also offer a skills metric, which offers a vision of the employees’ competence and suggests the best plan for developing their skills,” concludes Radu Milos.
