Prime-minister Victor Ponta concedes defeat in presidential election

Romanian prime-minister Victor Ponta has conceded the victory in the second round of the presidential elections to Klaus Iohannis, whom he had outrun in the first voting round, BBC news reported.

“I called Mr Iohannis and I congratulated him,” prime-minister Ponta told reporters. He also said he had no reasons to resign from his post as prime-minister.

The ethnic German mayor of Sibiu Klaus Iohannis has reportedly won54.81 percent of the votes in the second round of the presidential elections, while current prime minister Vicotr Ponta gathered 45.18 percent of the cast ballots, results from the Central Electoral Bureau BEC showed, after the counting of the votes in 76.53 percent of the voting sections.
