Petromidia Refinery announces scheduled maintenance works

Rompetrol Rafinare, part of KMG International, notified the environmental authorities over the course of last week, about the beginning of maintenance works at Petromidia refinery, according to a statement submitted to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB). 

The works were initially scheduled for September and are part of the periodic maintenance of units. They will last for 15 days.The company had already finished shutdown procedures, and the empting and steam-leaning of the equipment will be carried out. During this period, the firm will perform repair works, maintenance and technological tests on the units from Petromidia platform.

The refinery and petrochemicals activity was stopped for the period October 11 –November 20, 2015 for the planned 5-year turnaround. The overall investment value amounted to USD 77.5 million.

At the same time, on August 26, within the official investigation performed by the authorities regarding the fire at the refinery that killed one person, Rompetrol Rafinare and Rominserv companies, as well as four employees of these two companies were summoned in front of prosecutors. Both companies, as well as the four employees have to come to the Prosecutor’s Office attached to the Court of Appeal of Constanta, to provide additional information about the incident.
