Over EUR 1.9 bln worth of EU funds inflows reached Romania in the last 8 months

The government brought in the country EUR 1.9 billion associated to the closing of budgetary activity from 2007-2013 until June 22, according to the European Funds Ministry .

“Until the end on this year we estimate that Romania will receive from the European Commission expense account worth EUR 539 million for POSDRU, for which the Commission had blocked the payments to Romania, but we succeeded to unblock them in May” said Cristian Ghinea, the minister of European Funds (MFE) before the meeting with the representatives of European Affairs Commission within the Deputies Chamber from Parliament Palace.

Also, in 2016 the MFE will transmit the main projects to be approved by the European Commission: the rehabilitation of railway Simeria 614 km, around EUR 1.5 billion, the subway rehabilitation M 61 Otopeni, almost EUR 350 million, 10 water and used water infrastructure projects valued at almost EUR 1.5 billion (Alba, Hunedoara – Valea Jiului, Vrancea, RAJA- Constanța, Satu-Mare, Ilfov, Galați, Suceava, Turda-Campia Turzii, Cluj -Salaj) and one project of coast erosion valued at EUR 220 million.
