Orange Romania posted on 30 June 2016 revenues of EUR 475.9 million, up by 4.9 percent year-on-year, despite a decrease in its customer base of 359,000 customers. With a total of 9,846,000 clients, Orange Romania is the leader of the Romanian mobile communication market.

According to Orange Romania, 1,600,000 clients use 4G services, a 2.8 increase, year-on-year.

We ended the first half of the year with a solid commercial and financial performance, strengthening the company’s position on the mobile services market. On the background of an extremely competitive market price wise, our strategy is to assure the best experience through the network’s coverage and performance, through the diversity of offers and professionalism and expertise in assistance services in all interaction points,” Liudmila Climoc, CEO Orange Romania said.

The G4 mobile data is continuing the growing trend, increasing fourfold in the first part of the year compared to the same period of 2015, on the background of an interest for 4G terminals and of competitive offers for the purchase of 4G terminals and services in the Orange portfolio. In June, the number of 4G terminals doubled year-on-year. According to Orange Romania, in the first half of 2016 the company sold 32 percent more smartphones compared to the same period last year, and the share of customers that preferred smartphones increased from 54 percent last year to 68 percent this year.

Orange continues to provide the largest coverage for 4G services, with its 4G network being available to 74 percent of the total population and 96.5 percent of the urban ppulation, in over 5,000 localities.
