Key move. Cristian Busu reappointed president of Electrica’s board

Cristian Busu has been reappointed president of Electrica SA’ board, the electric energy supplier. He is a member of the board since 2014 and was chosen in this position during the Council’s meeting on November 13, 2017, for one-year mandate.

The Electrica’s board is formed of seven members: Arielle Malard de Rothschild, Cristian Busu, Doina Dascalu, Gicu Iorga, Bogdan Iliescu, Willem Schoeber and Pedro Mielgo Alvarez.

Busu is university lecturer within Bucharest University of Economic Studies. Starting April, he is vice-president of SIF Oltenia, where he is a board member since 2013.

During November 2015- January 2017 he has been state secretary within the Energy Ministry. Previously, he was director of the central branch Marfin Bank Bucharest. During 2009-2013, he was economic director of Fondul Proprietatea and member of the representatives’ Committee. Before that, Busu was economic counselor within the economic department of Romanian Government for four years. Between 2000-2005, he worked for the Prudential Financial, New York, as financial planner/ broker. Since 2014, he is member of the Administration Council of Electrica.

Busu said: “I thank my colleagues from the board for the trust vote. Through their experience and professionalism, together with the Electrica management, we’ll continue the implementation of the efficiency measures, as well as the best corporate Governance.”

Catalin Stancu, general director of Electrica: “The continuity at the board level, respectively the re-appointment of Cristian Busu as president, creates the premises of the strategic transformation projects’ continuity and represents an important assets for the company especially in the current situation.”
