Isopan Est registers record exports of 1.5 million square meters in 2019

Isopan Est, part of the Italian group Isopan, consolidates its leading position in the local production of thermal insulation panels, given that at the end of last year the total volume output of the Bucharest factory rose by 8 percent, to a total of 2.76 million square meters (domestic market and export), according to a sector study conducted by the market research company Neomar Consulting. Isopan Est reached a turnover of EUR 53.6 million in 2019.

Isopan Est’s production has grown steadily over the last four years, fuelled by both local consumption and exports, reaching a record high of 1.5 million square meters, in 2019. Half of the company’s output in Romania goes to Eastern European markets.

“We will continue our efforts to provide quality in Romania. We are optimistic and we adapt to the new conditions, even if these times are truly a stress test for everything that means local production. What is certain is that the need for logistics, production and industrial spaces is increasingly evident, and investors continue to build new projects. Therefore, we estimate that the panel market will remain at least at the level of 2019, with a stronger orientation towards high quality products,” said Toni Pera, General Manager, Isopan Est.

For 2020, according to the study, the local market will settle at a volume of about 8 million square meters, like last year’s level. In the current context, where the capacity of supply chains and the speed of supply are being tested and become a priority, new projects are emerging and local or regional investments in areas such as agriculture and animal farms, warehousing and logistics, and industrial or food production are stimulated. Together, these fields generated in 2019 about 70 percent of the local demand for thermal insulation panels, according to the Neomar Consulting study.

Also, according to the mentioned study, more than 50 percent of the local market is represented by panels made of steel with a thickness of over 0.5 mm, considered a good sheet thickness in the production of panels. Regarding the steel used by Isopan Est in the production of the panels, last year 70 percent of the demand was for thicknesses of more than 0.5 mm (both for polyurethane panels and for those with mineral wool, for which a 0.6 mm thick steel is used).

At the same time, the volume of thermal insulation panels with mineral wool, which offers high fire performance, reached about 16 percent of the total market. There is an increase also due to the requirements and regulations imposed by law for the building’s resistance to fire. To address this, 2 years ago, once the new regulations appeared, Isopan Est launched the second production line dedicated to mineral wool panels. The two production lines, which are 85 percent automated, can produce 15,000 square meters of panels daily, the equivalent of 25 percent of the built-up area of the People’s House.

These figures, that determine the trends presented in the study, show the focus on higher quality products and an increase in customer requirements in this regard, especially when the final beneficiary is involved in the choice of panels.

In the Bucharest factory, Isopan Est produces thermal insulation panels for the entire spectrum of applications, making use of Isopan group’s 45 years of experience to offer the proper solutions for each project, to build a qualitative Romania.

Among the latest technologies launched by Isopan are LEAF – developed to provide thermal insulation efficiency up to 20 percent higher than standard products, safety and sustainability – and Green Roof – a system designed for the construction of green roofs, terrace type, which offers, beyond the aesthetic value, energy efficiency and pollution filtering.
