What a ride it has been at Rising Cities. Smart Future! Romania’s Premier Smart City Online Conference comes to a conclusion, but the work for a smarter future continues, inspired by the great ideas brought forward by our speakers. A big thank you goes out to all those who joined us online, and the speakers & partners of the event.

The conference started off at full speed, with an extremely insightful exclusive presentation by EIB JASPERS’ Gwendolyn Carpenter (Smart Cities Expert) and Ana Maria Lupascu (Senior Economist), who shared their know-how on increasing the resilience of cities and regions and providing technical assistance to municipalities/local authorities to prepare EU funded projects.

The event then moved on to its two panels, with Eduard Dumitrascu (Smart City Expert & President of The Romanian Association For Smart City And Mobility) taking the role of moderator for a complex discussion on Sustainable Future Cities, facilitating a very engaging debate between Andrei Hoștiuc (Deputy General Manager at Apa Nova Bucuresti – Veolia), Tivadar Runtag (CEO at Chimcomplex), Daniela Gavril (Head Of Research at CBRE Romania), and Ruben Lațcău (Deputy Mayor of Timisoara).

After a short break, the Moderator hat passed on from Dumitrascu to Aurel Dragan, BR’s Tech Journalist, for the Digital infrastructure & software for future cities panel, where Dragos Preda (State Secretary for Telecommunications, Ministry of Transport, Infrastructure and Communication), Iosif Popa (Strategy & Statistical Data Director at The National Authority for Communications – ANCOM), Cristian Gheorghe (Sales Director Telecom Solutions, Central Eastern Europe at Prysmian), Adelin-Adrian Stoica (Cloud Solution Architect at Microsoft), and Cătălin Vrabie (Lecturer PhD, National University of Political Studies and Public Administration – SNSPA) charted new and fascinating areas, from Cloud Technology and 5G, to smart villages and smart citizens!
