Vodafone Romania and the “Mereu Aproape” Foundation plan to develop 8 rural communities in Romania through the second edition of the project “Ajuta un sat. Schimba o tara”.

The project will take place between July 2016- May 2017 and has an allocated budget of over RON 550,000. The sum of money will be invested to ensure access to education and social services for children and teenagers. It is estimated that over 4,000 people will benefit from this project.

During this project, many local educational establishments throughout Arges, Brasov, Braila, Buzau, Cluj, Olt, Prahova and Tulcea will be rehabilitated, such as the “Bethlen Samuel” secondary school in Brasov, Jirlau Kindergarten, “Ion Ionescu” secondary school in Prahova, Braesti primary school and many others.

The rehabilitation includes building or changing the sanitary equipment, installing new heating systems, replacing furniture and hardwood floors and installing IT equipment.

“We continue for another year to support the development of the commonities in the rural area through the construction and rehabilitation of schools, kindergartens and day centers with equipment and educational materials through creating “Afterschool” programs and through the development of educational programs which will prepare children and youths for life,” said Alessandra Stoicescu, president of the “Mereu Aproape” Foundation.

The “Ajuta un sat. Schimba o tara” project is part of the Strategic Program  for Investments in Rural Areas created by Vodafone Romania, which promotes the development of educational and social services developments in small towns and villages in Romania.
