Foreign direct investment (ISD) rose 47 percent, by EUR 332 million in the first two months of this year to EUR 1.036 billion, compared with EUR 704 million in the similar period of 2018, according to data provided by the National Bank of Romania (BNR).
Equity holdings (including the estimated reinvested earnings) amounted to EUR 927 million, and intra-group loans were net of EUR 109 million.
According to data from the National Trade Register Office (ONRC), in the first two months of this year 935 new companies with foreign participation in capital were registered, up 2.6 percent over the same period of the previous year, and the value the subscribed capital of these companies is USD 2.92 million.
On 28 February 2019 there were 222,269 companies with foreign capital participation in Romania. The amount of the subscribed capital of these companies was EUR 48.46 billion. The Netherlands, Austria and Germany are the main countries of origin of foreign capital.
