#FIS2020 | Bogdan Patru (Mastercard) joins the Foreign Investors Summit

Bogdan Patru, Public Policy Director at Mastercard, will be a speaker in the Finance Panel at the upcoming Foreign Investors Summit | 7th Edition, held on October 21-22 at the Sheraton Bucharest Hotel.

 

With a professional background consisting of 9 years of expertise in dispute & resolution, real estate, landlord and lessee law, corporate and commercial law, and energy (natural gas distribution & electricity), Bogdan Patru has been the Public Policy Director at Mastercard since September 2017, and in February 2020 he became the Head of Public Policy for Romania and Croatia. Patru holds a Bachelor’s Degree in law from the Titu Maiorescu University in Bucharest, and a Master’s Degree in International Business, Trade, and Tax Law from the same institution. In 2014, he served as an Adviser on EU Affairs for the Romanian Presidential Administration.

At Mastercard, while coordinating the Public Policy activities in Romania, and since 2020 also in Croatia, Bogdan Patru’s main focus has been the reduction of shadow economy through electronic payments, promotion of financial inclusion and digitization both at national and local levels, enablement of smart city collaborations with local authorities, and public policy support for the topics of digital payments, anti-money laundering legislation and Digital ID.

Bogdan Patru will feature in the Finance Panel at the Foreign Investors Summit, where he will shed light on important and current questions such as how can electronic payment methods benefit the Romanian economy, or what are the measures that could encourage a wider use of electronic payment methods.
