Balkanik Festival – September 7-9 @ Baneasa Regal Station & Youniverse Summer Club
One of the most important world music festivals in Europe will be at its 8th edition this fall, and will welcome artists such as Asaf Avidan, Yasmin Levy, Fanfara Tirana meets Transglobal Underground, Kroke, Light in Babylon, Manonera and many others. Besides concerts, Balkanik Festival also features a crafts fair, a young artisans’ fair, video mapping, photography exhibitions, live performances, an international food court, dance, poetry and more.
George Enescu International Competition – September 1-23 @ Romanian Athenaeum
2018 marks the 60th anniversary of the George Enescu International competition, as well as 137 years since the birth of composer George Enescu, 105 years since he founded the National Composition Award, as well as the Romanian Centennial. Built on Enescu’s fundamental values, the competition has been the debut place of the biggest names in international classical music. It is one of the most important cultural events in Romania, along with the yearly Enescu Festival.
Bucharest International Dance Film Festival – September 6-9 @ various locations
BIDFF is at its fourth edition, and this year’s theme will be [re]tracing – referring to the marks left behind by time in the lives of people and communities. The festival will include events hosted by the following locations: Cinema Elvire Popesco, The National Dance Center in Bucharest, DESCHIS Gastrobar, DESCHIS Atelier, Linotip – Independent Choreography Center, Cinetic and Qreator by IQOS. Sophisticat Autumn Yard Sale – September 8-9 @ Distrikt 42
The first Sophisticat Yard Sale of this season takes place on Saturday and Sunday between 11 am and 6 pm, on the terrace of one of the coolest gastropubs in Bucharest – Distrikt 42, in the Old Town. You’ll be able to find all kinds of items like clothing, shoes, accessories, bags, jewellery and many others, at prices that won’t break the bank. Entry is free!
