Dr. Leahu Dental Clinics Network, listed on the AeRO market of the Bucharest Stock Exchange, closed the first half of the year with a net profit of 4.8 million lei and a turnover of 44.4 million lei, 104% more than in the first six months of 2020. The geographical expansion of the network and the consolidation of the team of specialists in clinics in the country are the basis for the growth of the company’s business.

My main concern remains the real health of patients and for this reason we make efforts to invest in team training and management capacity, which does not exist in Romanian dentistry, must be brought from other industries. We managed to attract experts to the Advisory Board in many areas, which will contribute to the growth of the industry as a whole, but we believe that there is still a need for investment in innovation and more and more skilled human resources. We are determined to remain pioneers, as we have been for the last ten years.“, said Dr. Ionuț Leahu, founder and CEO of the Dr. Leahu Dental Clinics Network, the most extensive dental network in Romania.”

Of the total turnover of the Implant Expert Group, almost half comes from implantology services, a quarter from prosthetics, and the rest consists of revenues from general dentistry services, orthodontics, from the sale of specialized dental products, from services provided and other operating income.

14,166 unique patients were treated in Dr. Leahu Dental Clinics in the first half of 2021, increasing by 48% compared to the same period last year. At the same time, the number of open clinics increased by 17%, and that of offices by 30%. The most recent clinic opened in the network, the fifteenth, was inaugurated in Galați, following an investment of 600,000 euros. The dental center marked the expansion of the network in the east of the country, with a team of 16 specialists who treat patients in 9 dental offices equipped with state-of-the-art medical equipment, radiology and a special space dedicated to the treatment of children.

The largest investment of the group will be implemented in Cluj in the form of a regional dental hospital with 18 offices, four radiology centers, a dental laboratory and a special area dedicated to children. Dr. Ionuț Leahu: “We are going to complete the arrangement of the new clinics in Craiova, this year and Brașov, at the beginning of next year. We continue the dynamic scenario foreseen at the end of last year, marked by clear and concerted actions in the direction of the development assumed through the partnership concluded with the private equity fund Morphosis Capital.

The founder of the clinics relies on the access plans of the city-university centers in the future as well, but also on the training initiatives of the future generations of specialist doctors, through the partnerships concluded with profile universities. In addition, it continues its efforts to digitize and democratize dental services to the general public by launching, together with Sanopass, affordable dental subscriptions covering dental prophylaxis, radiology and consultation services to contribute to prevention programs, provided that half of Romanians do not get to the dentist, and a third do not take their children either, according to the latest study commissioned by Dr. Leahu Dental Clinics and conducted by Kantar this year.

CNAS vice-president, Adela Cojan, declared at the first PALMED forum for dentistry that dentistry received only 0.33% of the total expenses for medical care in Romania from the single national social health insurance fund, in the context in which the incidence of dental cavities is of 99%. Out of 4,402 contracts concluded with dentists in the country, only 26% operate in rural areas, said the vice president of CNAS. In total, the number of dental offices in Romania amounts to 15,650, four times more than in 2000, of which 95% are private, according to INS. In fact, the private dentistry market is estimated at 2.1 billion lei in 2020, almost 15 times higher than in 2018. The increase is due to the digitization processes of the modern dental industry, according to data presented at the same forum.
