Romanian DIY retailer Dedeman has announced a EUR 10 million investment in opening its 26th local store this week. The 10,000 sqm store which is located in Tulcea is also the fifth unit opened by the local retailer in 2011 after the ones in Cluj, Drobeta Turnu Severin, Baia Mare and Alba Iulia.

This year’s expansion has helped the company to surpass its 10 percent turnover increase target, according to Dedeman representatives. The company has also announced plans to open five more outlets next year. “This strategy of opening four to five units yearly will continue until 2015, in order to reach a national network of 45 units,” the retailer’s representatives have previously announced.

The surface of Dedeman stores ranges between 6,000 and 18,000 sqm. The retailer presently has a total sales area of 260,000 sqm and over 5,000 employees.

Dedeman is owned by Dragos and Adrian Paval.
