Corina Cretu: “The financial resources are available for the completion of 19 infrastructure project from Romania”

The European commissioner for Regional policy, Corina Cretu, approved the continuation of 19 projects from several Romanian regions, valued at EUR 1.3 billion. The projects refer to the water  supply system, wastewater treatment, centralized system of district heating and railway and road transport infrastructure.

„Al these projects started in the 2007-2013 period, but can be finished in the current scheduled period.  I am convinced that this kind of projects are vital to improve the Romanians’ lives. This is why we should use at maximum the available European funds, ” said Corina Cretu.

The projects are: for transports the rehabilitation of the railway bridges at km 152+149 and 165+817 km on railway section Bucharest-Constanta, the rehabilitation of the national road DN56 Craiova-Calafat and for energy, the district heating rehabilitation at the level of Oradea municipality and the re-technologization  of the district heating of Bacau.

Moreover, the expansion and rehabilitation of the water infrastructure is scheduled for Satu Mare county, Prahova, Mehedinţi, Argeş, Mureş, Arad, Vaslui, Bistrița-Năsăud, Timis, Botosani, Valcea, Botosani, Dambovita, Maramures and Suceava.

The objectives of the transport projects comprise the rehabilitation of the Danube bridges, Borcea and Cernavoda, part of the railway Bucharest-Constanta, by the modernization of the infrastructure and the increase of the driving speed to maximum 160 km/h for passangers and 120 km/h for freight trains.
