The Director, Head of Client Coverage at ING Romania, Claudiu Sabau is a seasoned professional in the banking industry, with more than 14 years of experience. In 2008 he came into the ING team as a Corporate Dealer, holding several roles over the years such as Chief Dealer Capital Markets Sales, Head of Sales Wholesale Banking, Financial Markets, Director, Head of Financial Markets Sales, and Director, Head of Client Coverage, a role he held since July 2020.

Claudiu Sabău was appointed Director, Head of Clients, Wholesale Banking division, in July 2020. Having a background of 15 years of banking experience, Claudiu oversees in his current role the development of the banking sales activity, with main focus on domestic/ international large corporates and financial institutions.

Together with his team, by leveraging the deep sectorial expertise, he aims at creating a truly differentiating experience for ING’s clients.

ING is a sustainability pioneer and Claudiu is strongly committed to integrating and further developing ING’s global sustainability agenda into the local market. The recent main achievements include, among others, 3 sustainability transactions.

Previously, in ING, he headed the Financial Markets sales team, originating and structuring solutions for SMEs, large corporates and financial institutions. Since 2013, Claudiu is a CFA charterholder.

“As a bank, our responsibility is to use our financing, advisory products and services to actively support clients transition to new sustainable business models that will ensure their success in the future. As a financial institution, we can play a role by financing change, sharing knowledge and using our influence. What options do client have regarding green financing (differemt types of loans and bonds), what ESG means etc.” Says Claudiu Sabau.

Claudiu Sabau will be part of the Sustainable Business Panel (Day 2 – September 29, Panel 2), where he will talk about subjects such as circular business models, corporate activism, sustainable business practices and financing.
