Citi appoints Ivan Vrhel as general director of Citi Romania

Citi announced the appointment of Ivan Vrhel as general director of Citi Romania, keeping at the same time the current responsibilities as director of Citi Commercial Bank division for SMEs.

In his new role, Vrhel will be responsible for the elaboration and implementation of local strategy of the bank, as well as for an efficient management of risks and controls. Also he will coordinate the relation of the banks with corporate clients, public sector clients, regulation authorities and Government institution.

In his new position, he will report to Kevin A. Murray, regional director for Central Europe and CEO of Citi Hungary.

Vrhel started his career within Citi Czech Republic in 2004 as management associate, where afterwards held several management positions and in 2014 he moved in Romania to take the role of local division Citi Commercial Bank.

He graduated from the University Caroline from Czech Republic, majoring in economic studies and has a master degree in economics, with major in banks and capital market within the same university.

“Citi has a tradition of over 20 years in leadership to support the institutional clients on the Romanian market. Ivan brings in his new role a wide banking experience and an impressive record of achievements within Citi to keep supporting our clients,” said Murray.

Vrhel will replace Tibor Pandi, who, after seven year of leading Citi Romania, has taken over the role of CEO of Citi Thailand.
