Cisco launches a new and free cybersecurity online course in Romanian. Learn the basics needed to fight cybercrime and protect your data

Today’s interconnected world makes everyone more susceptible to cyber-attacks. With billions of devices now online, new threats pop-up every second. Whether you’re attracted to the new world of cybersecurity as a professional, or just interested in protecting yourself online and in social media, you have now the right tools for that.

“Introduction to Cyber ​​Security” is a free online course launched by Cisco on the Cisco Networking Academy platform that provides information about online security, the various types of malware and cyber attacks, the measures and tools to eliminate them, and last but not least, it presents educational and career paths for those who wish to become cybersecurity professionals.

The online course is now available in Romanian, is free and is open for anyone, (recommended especially for people over 13 years of age). The registration is online and the course is self-paced, meaning one can access the chapters exclusively online, according to their own schedule, because it does not require the presence of an instructor.

You don’t need any technical skills to attend this course. You will discover a very friendly and easy way to use this online course, as it is written in a simple and accessible language, and contains  interactive activities for a good understanding of the concepts of cyber security and  online protection on a personal or professional level.

“Any information about ourselves can be considered to be our data and can uniquely identify us as individuals. This data includes the pictures and messages that we share with our families and friends online. Other information, such as name, date and place of birth, medical, educational, financial and employment information can also be used to identify us online. With all the information available online, our personal data has become profitable to hackers, that’s why it’s very important to learn how to protect our identity, data and our devices”, explains Cătălina Niculiță, Systems Engineering Manager Cisco Romania.

The course comprises of five chapters and the total length is approximately 15 hours:

  1. The Need for Cybersecurity
  2. Attacks, Concepts and Techniques
  3. Protecting Your Data and Privacy
  4. Protecting the Organization
  5. Will Your Future Be in Cybersecurity?

At the end of this course, you will learn how to surf online and use the wireless networks safely, what are the possible consequences of cyber attacks, what is a cyber warfare and why nations and governments need cybersecurity professionals to help protect their citizens and infrastructure.

Last but not least, when you take the final exam, you will receive a Course Completion Certificate and the Cisco Networking Academy Digital Badge.
