CEZ exits the Cernavoda nuclear project

The Czech company CEZ sold its share package (9.15 percent) in the project company EnergoNuclear to state-owned company Nuclearelectrica, the majority shareholder in the construction of nuclear 3 and 4 at the nuclear power plant in Cernavoda. The announcement was made at the end of last year. The transaction of shares was made at their nominal value.

According to company information, the transaction is in line with CEZ Group’s plans to focus on its investments in the Czech Republic and to consolidate the current foreign acquisitions.

Currently, the Romanian state has reached a participation of 60.15 percent in EnergoNuclear. The project for the construction of nuclear units 3 and 4 at Cernavoda is estimated at EUR 4 billion.
