The Coalition of Romania’s Development (CDR) urges Romanian officials to simplify the Statement 088 on registration for VAT purposes in a statement released earlier today.
“ANAF should have access to information, to make checks, but we believe that this access should be facilitated by digitization and interconnection of public data and not through additional administrative burdens for taxpayers,” CDR shows.
To this end, Statements 088 and 394 are measures for fighting tax evasion which are only efficient on the short term, the press release goes on to show, and the ANAF should look to implement long term solutions, such as the interconnection of cash registers to ANAF’s systems, a better communication between institutions (such as Revisal, the Trade Registry and ANAF) so that companies will not have to furnish information multiple times and other specific modifications brought to the Statement 088, leading to a greater transparency in the process of the VAT payment by companies.
The CDR comprises 45 organizations or associated members such as AmCham Romania, the Foreign Investors’ Council (FIC), the Association of Romanian Businesspeople (AOAR), the Romanian Business Leaders association (RBL), chambers of commerce and commercial representations of EU member states, the US and Canada.
