Budget deficit down to 0.2 percent of GDP after 7 months

In the first half of the year, Romania posted a budget deficit 0.5 percent of GDP.

The budget received revenues of RON 120.9 billion (EUR 27.1 billion), meaning 18.3 percent of GDP. Budgetary expenses represented RON 121.9 billion, smaller in nominal terms by 0.2 percent compared to the same period last year.

Romania has agreed with international institutions to keep its consolidated budget deficit under 2.2 percent of GDP this year.

Romania ended last year with a budget deficit of 2.5 percent of GDP.
