Most of the construction sites kept going during the restriction period caused by COVID-19 pandemic. A few sites were closed but only because workers were scared at the start of the pandemic, but everything turned normal afterwards, as Attila Beer, Country Manager at Alukonigstahl Romania, said at Business Review’s Realty Forum 2020, organized by a new concept Garden Zoom-out.

“The construction sites in Bucharest continued for the most part. In Cluj and Timisoara we had several private operators who closed the construction sites due to the fears of the workers, who did not want to come to work at the start of the pandemic. But, after the scare from the beginning, we are quickly approaching last year’s figures,” said Attila Beer.

Several companies that rely on import from China had problems in the supply chain. But Alukonigstahl Romania does not import from China. “We only had one problem with materials from Italy, which was blocked immediately after the establishment of the state of emergency, but we quickly turned to suppliers in Germany, who did not close production. We repositioned ourselves so as not to have problems with Italian suppliers. Otherwise there were no major problems,” said Beer.

As a company that rely on sales, Attila Beer shays that they didn’t stay at home during the restrictions. “We split in teams, to have more space and reduce contact and we came to the office in shifts, so everything was safe. In sales, you cannot work from home, it is very difficult,” said Beer.

Talking about the importance of the task book at the beginning of a project, Attila Beer shows that it is of defining importance. It may happen to have clients that do not really know what they what in terms of finished spaces, but after talking to architects and contractors, a task book is still made. “It is obvious that a complete specification task book is mandatory for everyone,” said Beer.

“When it comes to houses, the façade must be very well designed and build. In an office, the tenants come in at 9 o’clock and leave at 17:00, so it does not matter as much how it looks and how comfortable it is. But for houses is very important,” said Attila Beer.
