BeeFast, a local super fast delivery tech start-up, has grown from 16 deliveries / day in early 2020 to a maximum of 580 deliveries / day by the end of the year. 65 percent of the turnover was generated by the customers that BeeFast moved for free from offline to online, during the pandemic.

BeeFast started 2020 as a fast B2B and B2C delivery solution, but the new socio-economic context generated by the onset of the pandemic accelerated the development of the project of the 4 founding entrepreneurs to provide a digital infrastructure with integrated payment system and order delivery for offline stores. Thus, during 9 months of 2020, BeeFast has moved online over 100 businesses, in areas such as HoReCa, cosmetics, flowers or clothing.

The general trend towards eCommerce has led to an accelerated increase in the number of daily orders, which increased from an average of 16 deliveries / day in January 2020 to an average of 211 deliveries / day in the middle of the year, respectively 338 deliveries / day at the end of the year. Thus, in 2020, the over 1,200 suppliers registered on the BeeFast platform honoured over 66,500 orders, which generated business of 320,000 euros, 3 times higher than the estimates at the beginning of the year.

Average delivery time in 2020: 55 minutes

Among the differentiating factors and growth engines, in addition to the integrated services offered, were the ease of use of the application – where it is not necessary to print an AWB, as in the case of classic courier services – but also the speed of picking up and delivering the order in 2 hours from lifting. Through the digital platform with geolocation, couriers are distributed according to proximity, when the order is confirmed, without the need for additional action by the person who placed the order.

Accelerating the business has been a challenge for us and continues to be, considering the new directions we develop: from finding suppliers, to keeping the promise of delivery within two hours of order confirmation, covering as large an area as possible and delivery, according to requests and until the adaptation of the options behind the platform so that business integration and customer experience are as efficient and productive as possible, said Cristian Grozea, one of the 4 founders and CEO of BeeFast.

The most dynamic delivery areas were, in 2020, sectors 1, 2 and 3, and the busiest month in terms of orders was November, against the background of Black Friday and the approach of December. The most unusual locations where products were picked up or delivered were Otopeni Airport, Baneasa Airport, Parliament Palace, Government.

The most active businesses are restaurants, cafes, florists, but also grocery stores, food and beverage stores, toy stores, pharmacies, clothing and footwear stores. In the top the most delivered products in Bucharest and Ilfov are: horeca products – fish, burgers, sushi, pizza – but also flowers, books, jewelry and gifts among colleagues.

For 2021, BeeFast aims to continue the direction of digital infrastructure development, betting on at a significant growth in the segment of non-food customers by implementing new facilities in the application, but also of individual customers. In the case of the latter, the founders of BeeFast work to launch this year a dedicated app that simplifies the ordering process and of their ultra-fast delivery.

The online orientation of Romanians and the way in which customers have changed their consumer behavior determine a constant increase of interest in integrated, efficient, fast services. And we are not only talking about Bucharest, but also about the cities with a similar dynamic in the country, where we have requests for expansion and which we will focus on in 2021, Cristian Grozea also specified.

Thus, for the current year BeeFast aims to expand nationally, targeting 9 cities, in addition to Bucharest and Ilfov, where it currently operates. These are: Iași, Constanța, Sibiu, Cluj-Napoca, Craiova, Pitești, Brașov, Timișoara, Galați.
