President Traian Basescu qualified the Malaysia Airlines disaster in Eastern Ukraine which led to the death of 298 passengers as a “terrorist act”.

“The accident cannot be left like that without an international investigation into what happened. 298 innocents killed in a terrost act cannot go by without consequences”.

The president said that he will make his stance “very clear in Cotroceni”.

Russia risks to be completely isolated on the international scene after the Malaysia Airlines disaster which galvanized the western public opinion against Vladimir Putin.

The Malaysian plane most likely destroyed by a rocket and the death of the 298 passengers it carried when it crashe din Eastern Ukraine represents a shift in the political and military crisis in Eastern Europe that has lasted for more than 8 months.

What is more interesting is that Putin is starting to be resented by voices on the Russian political scene.

“We can observe a major struggle between Russia and the West. Russia’s isolation will grow exponentially”, according to Iuli Nisnevici, an expert in economic studies from the Moscow University.

Washington has accused pro-Russian separatists directly of the accident with Moscow rejecting the accusations. Anatoli Anatonov, deputy to the Russian minister of Defense, has said on Saturday that Russia is the victim of a “war of misinformation”.

“I believe that if the investigation will incriminate Moscow, even indirectly, Russia will deny responsibility”, according to head economist Serghei Guriev.

Some experts believe that if the investigation will reveal that Russians have supplied equipment to the separatists, which eventually led to the plane being destroyed, than Russia may have to be isolated the same way that Iran was. Furthermore, opposition to Vlaedimir Putin’s regime will strengthen.
