Number of CHF loans in Romania down 20 pct y/y in June

The number of people with loans denominated in Swiss Francs decreased by almost 20 percent in the first half of this year, from 24,315 at the end of June 2018, to 19,484 at the end of June 2019, according to the National Bank of Romania (BNR).

According to the data of the Credit Risk Board and the Credit Bureau, submitted at the request of AGERPRES, in June 2019 there were 8,939 mortgage loans denominated in Swiss Francs, from 10,021 in June 2018, with a balance of RON 1.78 billion, decreasing from RON 1.96 billion in June 2018.

In June 2019 there were 8,341 consumer loans secured by mortgages denominated in Swiss Francs, from 10,031 in June 2018, with a balance of RON 1.42 billion, against RON 1.71 billion in June 2018.

Regarding the number of borrowers who have requested and accepted credit conversions or restructuring, the NBR states that the reporting methodology does not allow to identify the date from which the credit conversion was made.
