NETOPIA Group, the innovation leader in the online payment processing industry, presents its financial results for the year 2023, confirming significant growth in both turnover and processed transactions.

“We are proud of last year’s results. The accelerated growth trend of the past 3 years motivates us to develop new payment services and solutions to support our business partners. The success achieved in 2023 is primarily due to the NETOPIA team, whose dedication and efficiency are evident in every project. Therefore, in 2024, we aim to attract new talents to help us build everything we have set out to do.” – Delia Paceagiu, COO at NETOPIA.

The number of processed transactions also saw a notable increase of 30% in 2023 compared to the previous year, reflecting users’ growing confidence in NETOPIA’s online payment solutions.

2023 also saw the launch of the NETOPIA Business Mastercard, a product dedicated exclusively to NETOPIA partners. This card was developed around users’ need to optimize their online processing costs. Additionally, we implemented new technical systems to streamline support for partners and entered into strategic partnerships that contributed to the development of new online payment solutions, such as Buy Now Pay Later (BNPL), thus consolidating our position in the market.

“For most industries, 2022 was a year of recovery after the pandemic, while 2023 became a representative year for the period to come. Online selling industries have begun to diversify more and more. We are pleased to see growth in areas such as events, entertainment (theater & concerts), and sports, as well as in industries such as tourism and agriculture.” – Horia Grozea, CCO at NETOPIA.

From a demographic perspective, there was a 4.1% increase in women making online purchases in 2023. Thus, 56.5% of the buyers in 2023 on the NETOPIA platform were women and only 43.5% were men, down from 47.6% in 2022. Technology plays an important role in online orders processed through NETOPIA. Thus, in 2023, the top devices preferred by Romanians were: smartphone – 80%, desktop – 19.4%, and tablets – 0.5% (also, 862 orders were completed using the smart TV, representing 0.006%).

Orange and Vodafone Romania services for targeted SMS marketing were much more requested in 2023 than in 2022, registering a growth of over 150%.
