Four out of ten Romanians with an internet connection use internet banking services at least once a week

Four out of ten Romanians use internet banking services at least once a week, according to the quantitative study “Digital Evolution: Connected Consumer Monitor” conducted by Exact Business Solutions in June. Of the total, 9 percent use the services several times a day, 23 percent a few times a week and 10 percent once a week.

Men were found to be more oriented towards internet banking operations. Thus, if 26 percent of women use this service on a daily basis or several times a week, 38 percent of men are use it in the same way. For those using internet banking once a week, the share of female users is 37 percent, while for men the share is 48 percent.

Analyzing consumer behavior by age, it was found that those aged between 31-45 are the most devoted and this target uses internet banking at least once a week (46 percent). Referring to the same consumption frequency, young people aged 18-30 have a similar behavior to those of 46-65 year old, with both age groups accounting for 40 percent.

“Differences also arise when we relate to the level of education of the population. The one with medium and sub-average education is characterized by lower Internet Banking consumption compared to the one with a high level of education,” says Julien Zidaru, managing partner of Exact Business Solutions.

The latter category uses internet banking in a percentage of 50 at least once a week (16 percent more than those with medium and sub-average education) and 71 percent at least once a month (with 20 percent more than those with medium and low education and 10 percent higher than the national average). Those who use Internet Banking daily or several times a week are obviously those with a high level of education – 37 percent, the percentage of those who use it with the same frequency among people with medium and sub-average education is 26 percent .

To conclude, the man with higher education is the one who most often uses Internet Banking: 74 percent at least once a month, 52 percent at least once a week, 41 percent daily or several times a week.

Also making a hierarchy according to the size of the cities of the country, Bucharest is in the top of Internet Banking consumption: 71 percent of Bucharest visitors access this service at least once a month, 53 percent at least once a week and 41 percent daily or several times a week. Turning to the rural area, we see an opening of the inhabitants to the Internet Banking area: 49 percent of them use this tool at least once a month, 35 percent at least once a week, and 24 percent daily or several times week.

The information is part of the second wave of the “Digital Evolution: Connected Consumer Monitor” study conducted by EXACT Business Solutions in June 2018. The universe of research was represented by people between the ages of 18 and 65, residents in urban and rural areas and internet users. The volume of the sample was 1,051 respondents. They were selected from the EXACT Business Solutions panel, which contains 49,000 respondents.
