Economic crisis brings down the number of registered firms

Also, the numbers of bankruptcies in Romania advanced by 55 percent y-o-y in the first three months, to 4,948 cases, while the number of newly-registered firms decreased by 34.4 percent.
The most affected companies were those with Romanian capital, meaning 4,247 units. Companies in the retail industry, the car and motorcycle repairing and in the processing industry and real estate topped the list of bankruptcies. The most
cases were registered in Bucharest, 557.
According to ONRC, 34.4 percent fewer companies were set up in the first quarter this year, over the similar period last year. The number slipped to 18,738, out of which more than 9,900 in the retail and gross sales.
